Overview

Welcome to the Railway Cricket section!  Following on from a strong 2023, the official social side of Brightlingsea Cricket Club will continue over the summer of 2024. Whether you want to play in one game or all of them, we would be delighted to have you on our team.

We predominantly play our games at home, and the matches are typically 30 overs long. While the rules are generally adopted on the day, they usually include 2 runs for a wide or no ball and a retirement at 30. We mostly play against pub and social sides, but we occasionally have a match against the regular Brightlingsea Cricket team.

Our focus is on the fun side of cricket since we are a social side. It is even permitted, some would say obligatory, to partake in a refreshment or two during the games! We value camaraderie and sportsmanship above all else and we believe that playing cricket should be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
